Week 12 Reflection

I wanted to revisit Storymaps because I did not feel I was able to explore the website’s namesake feature very well, the interactive Story Map. As such, I mapped out places where I lived via a tool. It was cool not only trace out my past, but create a dynamic narrative by changing the zoom level of the map to hide and reveal information. In addition to this, the descriptions provided a clean to integrate verbal information next to the visual information. If I use the tool in the future I would like to do more with images in the different slides. I was continually comparing the feature to PowerPoint animations in my mind. While PowerPoint affords more animation and movement options, the user cannot interact with the information which makes StoryMaps superior for some uses.
