Week Six Vivero Reflection

Diving headfirst into digital tools this semester has taught me a lot. I am both surprised and proud to have learned as much as I have this far. Using WordPress and Elementor tools to design websites has not always been the most straightforward process, however I am glad to have worked through the process. Whether it be cPanel being funky about https redirect, or Elementor base not having headings, solutions were not always clear. Yet, research and asking for help never failed. Currently, my website features a home pace with an image carousel and program information, an about page, a contact page, a participate page, and a projects page that features past projects in a blog-gallery format. The contact page is pretty bare, just listing information about my project lead. The about page has more content, as well as some buttons that link to other useful informational pages.

Moving forward with my Map the System Project, a lot of what I will have to do will be filling out content. This could be examples of past projects or other promotional materials. At some point after Spring Break I should probably learn StoryMaps as my site lead has suggested it could be useful. A question I have regards my sites “Participate” page. I also plan to gather more information from Map the System’s parent organization, the Skoll Centre, and add it to the website. My lead and I were thinking that the site could feature a link to register and an explanation of the process, however the program’s registration is not open year-round. Is there a way to automate when the site displays this information, or is this something that has to be manually updated? I do not have any other major questions but if I run into anything I will let you know!
